"At the heart of each of us there exists a perfect rhythm, which is absolutely individual and unique and yet which connects us to everything else." -- George Leonard.
I wholeheartedly believe Mr. Leonard's words to be true; in fact I am building my life around them. I have been deeply motivated by the desire to uncover the rhythm in myself, and now, in collaboration with those who are inspired by and willing to take on the journey. I started this company because I have seen so many creative, curious, courageous people seeking to find a meaningful life, and, having a difficult time answering the daunting questions of "how do I know what I really want to do?" ... and ... "how do I make that happen?" (myself included). We are never taught these skills in school so it is no wonder we struggle with them. Rarely do we find a space to discover what we love and are naturally good at, or experiment with a path that is not neatly laid out weekly plans. And even more, we are hardly held accountable for pursuing any dream that we do unearth, and we might even be discouraged from it. I am on a mission to change that. |
Through my own growth experiences, and obsessively studying leaders who share a definition of success that I dream of, I have realized that the ability to truly see yourself and be encouraged to follow your intuition is fundamental to creating a life that feels worthwhile. All of the work I do - through teaching, coaching and facilitating - is to help further that aim. I want to empower people to deeply know themselves so that they can live a life that matters.
MY BACKGROUND:
In 2007 I graduated from college and co-founded a station-less bike sharing company, weBike, where I gained an appetite for entrepreneurship and learned how to work with the tools of building a business. After five years of hard, passionate work we had to fold the company due to slow growth. (More about that experience and my insights here if you're intrigued).
As we did this, I realized that I had no clue what else I wanted to do with my life if my startup wasn't it. I felt a pull to rediscover who I was. In the process I found employment at the Entrepreneur’s Organization and then Netcito where I got a much closer look into this inner leadership journey for founders & CEOs, and I saw how vital the 'knowing yourself' piece is for leaders. As I picked up these important attitudes, frameworks and toolkits, I also started seeing the key puzzle pieces fill in for my own future.
I have a drive to work with people and help them learn about themselves, so that is where Mind Into Matter came into being. I was looking for a way to combine all of this great insight - the creative, entrepreneurial tools, the self discovery effort, the emotional intelligence mindsets - into one place. Today I am a coach, an educator and a facilitator with this company I founded. I lead my own courses, run workshops at General Assembly, and am an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland's Academy for Innovation & Entrepreneurship. I coach individuals one-on-one, and I facilitate teams and organizations to understand their purpose and live it out in a more creative way.
Come join me if you feel the pull. I would love to work with with you.
